Ekiti Poll: APC’s Victory, And The Betta Edu Jinx- Breaking Magic Wand
Residents of Ekiti State – one of the South Western States in Nigeria, spoke loudly on Saturday June 18, 2022, as they gave candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji a resounding and landslide victory, having polled 187, 065, to win 15 out of 16 local government areas of the State.
According to a popular axiom, “nobody associates with a failure”, such is the smart case of the APC, for identifying the winning bet of Betta’s ability and bringing her onboard the party’s political train.
Ekiti State election is Betta’s first litmus test, and indeed just as she left an indelible mark, so hard to beat and replace in the Cross River State Health Ministry, as both DG CRSPHCDA and Health Commissioner, she is bound to replicate same winning energy in all elections as the party’s National Women Leader.
With less than three month into office, and her record-setting knack, she has again demonstrated that winning attitude by being the first NWL to return a sitting governor or the governor’s anointed candidate in the history of Ekiti State, a record that has never been set.
Ekiti State has never re-elected an incumbent governor or the it’s anointed, Betta Edu has broken that jinx and sent afar, every oppositions.
The incoming governor of the state, His Excellency Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji of the APC secured his victory through the help of many factors including the most profound wittiness of Dr. Betta Edu women sensitization and campaign strategy.
You ask how? According to INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Ekiti State has a total of 988,923 registered voters and a total number of 749,065 voters collected their PVCs, this fraction represents 75.75%.
For this election, 360,753 votes were cast, and this represents 48.1%, out of which the winner (Oyebanji) secured a whooping 51.85% of the total votes cast. This percentage, which is above average had more than 70% votes cast from the women, according to data released by the commission (check the commission’s website for the details of gender voting strength).
This therefore means that the impact of the National Women Leader of the party, secured her party’s candidate more than 70% of the victory claimed. You may not like Dr. Betta, but you can’t deny her impact. Laced with exception knack for success- her testimonies can be seen , heard and felt from her impact in the Cross River State health sector, little wonder the numerous appointments, as the Chairman of Health Commissioners’ Forum, to mention a few, and to most recently, the ruling party NWL.
Opposition parties should consult this young woman and ask about her winning strategies for a pay, afterall, nobody associates with a failure, and with Betta’s winning wand, victory will always be assured.
