Group Blast Stakeholders Over Call on Senate President to Bar Stephen Odey from Plenary Session

A youth group operating in Cross River State on the aegis of Northern Cross River Democratic Front has reacted to calls made yesterday by Northern Renaissance Assembly & Movement for Restoration of Cross River that Senator Stephen Odey should be barred from attending Senate plenary session.

The youth group stated that Stakeholders have no right what so ever to pressurize the president of Senate to do their bidding.

Coordinator for Northern Cross River Democratic Front, Mr. Jake Odama, urged the Stakeholders not distract Senator Stephen Odey from performing his senatorial functions.

The Stakeholders had on Wednesday in Calabar circulated a statement in the media space calling on the leadership of the Nigerian Senate to bar Dr. Stephen Odey, Senator representing Cross River North senatorial district from participating from Senate’s activities alleging that Odey had been kicked out from Senate following the February supreme court judgement.

The youth group who claimed to be showing solidarity to Dr. Odey urged the Senate leader Dr. Ahmad Lawan not to listen to calls from any quarter except from legitimate quarters as no group or individual has such powers to mount unnecessary pressure on a legitimate institution to do their bidding.

” We have the confidence of the Senate leadership under the watch of distinguished Senator Lawan, that he would not allow himself to be cowed into doing what is not legitimate.

“The Senate is a reputable institution, with integrity and we believe that it cannot bend to any one’s bidding because people the candidate of their choice lost Senate elections”.

The youth group urged the Senate president not to heed to call from any front attempting to distract him from performing his legislative function stressing that Rt Hon. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe did not complete the sanatorial primaries as Jarigbe abandoned the process midway upon realizing that he won’t make it successfully, should the process be completed.

Also reacting to the stakeholders cry to Senate president , is senator Odey’s media aide, Mr.Paul Ojeka, who said call from stakeholders to stopped his boss from performing his legislative functions was laughable.

He said that those claiming to be stakeholders in Cross River State are crying fowl, because their pay master lost the elections to his boss who is loved by every almost everyone in the North senatorial district.
“Go to Ogoja and do proper findings, Jarigbe didn’t contest any election. He absconded on the day of the primaries perhaps because he was afraid to loose.

” Why would they prevail on the Senate president to stop Senator Odey from participating in plenary session of the Senate. These is laughable.

“The court knows it best,they aren’t court. Whatever pronouncements made by the court was done so on technical grounds,for the fact that they are not the court, they should allow Odey alone. The court knows what to do.Its not their place to begin to prevail on Senate president to do their bidding”. Ojeka maintained.

However, according to Senator Odey’s media team who also reacted to the issue urged Dr. Laman not to give in to the antics of Barr. Omang Charles who has never like Dr. Odey from the on set.

“What Omang is doing is a political gimmicks. We asked him at the initial stage to join the winning team, but he declined, today he is crying wolf.

” It is quite appalling to read from a supposed custodian of the law, twisting facts in order to launder the legal fraud being perpetrated by Hon. Jarigbe Agom to clinch the Senate seat through illicit means.
“We urge Omang to go back to the law school and learn about ethical practices. Lawyers like him are the problem of this country who will help criminals who ordinarily should be languishing in Kuje Correctional Centre for rehabilitation for daring to steal Dr. Odey’s mandate.

“Let this sink well into Omang’s brain that Senate President is not the cause of Jarigbe Agom’s predicaments, his inordinate ambition is.

“The Senate President is a good man; his ways are upright, that is why he cannot condescends so low do their bidding.

“Let Jarigbe show the world his nomination form, by-election result.

“Why is he avoiding the green chambers sitting, if not because of shamelessly flouting himself as a Senator.

No matter the distractions from those who are supposed to be cooling off in kirikiri maximum correctional facility, our Distinguished Senator Stephen Odey Ph.D remains focused, unruffled and undeterred.
