SENATOR NDOMA-EGBA IS A GREAT ACHIEVER IN AND OUTSIDE POLITICS
By Goddie Akpama
After serious contemplation, I came to the conclusion that the piece with the title “How Senator Imoke Keeps Retiring Veteran Politicians In Cross River State” which appeared in an online news site, operanewsapp.com should be rebutted for record purpose.
The publication, obviously, the work of a sponsored hack writer failed to achieve its dubious intention of damaging the hard earned political achievements of the former Leader of the Senate, Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, because it is a tale of ill rehearsed lies.
Moreover, the hack writer who was not bold enough to use his byline, did a very poor image laundering job for his sponsors by applauding acts of satanic wickedness above the statesmanship of most of those he tried vainly to malign.
Let the shameless purveyor of such deliberate mischief be remained that before politics, Victor Ndoma-Egba was, in political office he made his marks nationally and internationally, and outside political office, he still is In his professional calling, he has made his mark to the peak.
Since leaving the Senate in 2015, Victor Ndoma-Egba has been Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC!!
Secretary, APC National Convention Committee.
Ndoma-Egba was honoured with the LL.D by the University of Calabar after he left the Senate.
Perhaps, these responsibilities and achievements signpost political retirement, according to the hack writer and his sponsors.
Professionally, Ndoma-Egba, as a lawyer who is the first Senator to attain the title of SAN, has become a Life Bencher. Is that retirement?
It must be noted that the man whose political ego the sponsored writer wanted to massage was sacked twice from office as governor by the Court; and in one of such instances by the Court of Appeal next door to him while he was sleeping. In 2014
PDP Congresses, loyalists of Victor Ndoma-Egba floored Liyel Imoke in the Congresses. It took President Goodluck Jonathan to reverse it and safe the man who was then a sitting governor from monumental political embarrassment.
Mr. hack writer, what has he been since he left as Governor?
How politically infallible is a man who had no honest succession plan, to the extent that the PDP in the state witnessed its most tumultuous era under his watch as governor. The scar of what he bequeathed to the state and the PDP in leadership has not healed up until today.
One can go on and on and on.
To put the records straight, Victor Ndoma-Egba never contested the general election in 2015. After the selection of the party’s candidates by Liyel Imoke and his cohorts in the PDP, Ndoma-Egba left the party for them, and has never looked back. He joined the APC after the entire transition programme of 2015.
Rather it was Dr. Sandy Onor of the Labour Party, LP, as he then was, that contested the 2015 senatorial election in Cross River Central against Senator John Owan Enoh who was the PDP senatorial candidate.
The jobber man called writer also made reference to the State Governor Professor Ben Ayade as the next in line that will be retired by Liyel Imoke.
Very ridiculous way of reasoning!!
What would make one think that the former governor will retire the incumbent from politics, if not for exaggerated self delusion.
For now Ben Ayade is the governor and leader of the PDP in the state. If Liyel Imoke was not dislodged as the PDP leader in the state out of respect for his office and political party protocol, why should anybody feel that such adversaries, whether in high or low places.
